Idioma Remediation

Your residents should not need a bilingual relative to read your forms, notices and reports. Idioma lets visitors open your documents in an accessible view and translate them into their own language, right from your website.

What Idioma is

Idioma is a translation tool for public agencies. You add one script tag to your website, and visitors get a language picker. It is built by GABAnode Lab, which also publishes accessibility.chat, but it is its own product with its own site, accounts and pricing. You do not need it to use accessibility.chat.

How document translation works

  1. 1. A visitor clicks a document

When someone clicks a PDF or document link on your site, Idioma opens it in an accessible, readable view instead of a fixed page they have to squint at.

  2. 2. They pick their language

The document is translated into the language they selected, so a resident can read the same notice, form or report your English readers see.

  3. 3. You pay for what is used

Text-based documents are processed at no cost. Scanned documents use OCR at $0.07 per page, and translation is billed per character. Documents already viewed are cached, so repeat views are free. You can set a monthly budget cap.

Ready to translate your documents?

Both buttons leave accessibility.chat and open Idioma in a new tab. If you only need a single PDF made accessible, the second button is the faster route.
